When I was about 10, my brother bought a kitten at a mall pet store, took it outside and dipped it in a mud puddle. Then he brought it home, dirty and pathetic looking, and told our mom he found this poor baby kitten and of course he *had* to take care of it!A We had cats pretty much constantly from then on. When I went to college and got an apartment, I promptly adopted two kittens who traveled with me through college, marriage, moves, births of babies and many other life changes. One of those kitties lived until the age of 19! We currently have two snuggly cats, plus four next door at my mother-in-law’s house (yup, we call it her Crazy Cat Lady Starter Kit). My favorite thing about cats is their insistence that you slow down, enjoy life, take a nap in the sunshine…..it’s an attitude that I can learn a lot from.
